Aeronautical straps and tapes: weaving standards and equivalents

Straps and tapes used in aeronautics must combine mechanical strength, dimensional stability and durability in demanding environments.
Depending on the application (lashing, harnessing, equipment support, bundle protection, marking, etc.), Sealicone supplies woven products conforming to AIR, MIL, CAP and FCP standards, with traceability and material certification.

Main standard families covered

• AIR 9205: tapes and webbings according to Rxxx series (e.g. AIR9205R222, R343, R440...). Defined widths and strengths, finishes adapted to aeronautical integration.
• MIL : wide range of US military specifications for technical woven fabrics :
  • MIL-T / MIL-DTL: technical tapes and straps (e.g. MIL-T-5038, MIL-T-5666, MIL-DTL-24677) covering wefts, wire counts and resistors.
  • MIL-W: woven webbings (e.g. MIL-W-4088, MIL-W-5625, MIL-W-5664, MIL-W-5665, MIL-W-17337, MIL-W-23223, MIL-W-44049) with precise requirements on weave, breaking strength and elongation.
  • MIL-C: braided or woven cords and ribbons (e.g. MIL-C-1145, MIL-C-3395, MIL-C-5040, MIL-C-43307, MIL-C-87129) for use in parachuting, securing, tying...
  • MIL-B / MIL-R / MIL-H / MIL-L: complementary families for specific needs (cotton, braids, retaining tapes, sleeves, finishing lubricants, etc.).
• CAP & FCP: industrial references (e.g. CAP D R707, FCP 0522...) used by several OEMs to maintain fleet and MRO compatibility.
• NSN (NATO Stock Number): many references have an NSN (e.g. 8305-00-xxx-xxxx) for rapid logistical identification.
  
  

Materials and performance

Depending on the standard and level of performance required, our webbings and tapes are made from polyester, polyamide or aramid, with possible treatments against abrasion, moisture and fraying.
Key characteristics include breaking load,elongation, resistance to aeronautical fluids and thermal stability.
