MIL-T-87130 Type I, II, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI Aramid webbing
This strap is made of aramid fibers. This material can withstand environments that are too harsh for nylon or polyester.
First of all, it can withstand much higher temperatures; its charring temperature is around 420°C.
Para-aramid also offers exceptional mechanical properties, with very low elongation and a strength-to-weight ratio five times that of steel.
However, it has one major weakness: it is highly sensitive to UV rays. Prolonged exposure to sunlight reduces its tensile strength.
This webbing is primarily used for parachute lines, personal protective equipment for firefighters, and ballistic protection.
