The MIL-R-24677 specification, now associated with the MIL-DTL-24677 designation, covers high-tenacity polyester double-braid rope for demanding marine and industrial applications.
Technical characteristics
Double-braid construction: A braided core is protected by a braided outer cover, providing a smooth and stable rope structure. Low elongation: Polyester provides relatively low stretch under working load, which is useful for fixed-tension and precision handling applications. Wet-environment stability: Polyester retains useful strength and dimensional stability in marine service. Environmental resistance: Polyester provides good resistance to UV exposure and many common oils and chemicals.
Both use double-braid construction, but MIL-R-24677 uses polyester for lower elongation, while MIL-R-24050 uses nylon where greater elasticity and shock absorption are desired.
