Aerospace cords and braids: braiding standards and equivalents

Aerospace cords and braids must provide tensile strength, flexibility and dimensional stability while withstanding demanding environments including temperature variations, vibration and aerospace fluids. Main standard families covered

• AIR 9204 / AIR 9205: Rxxxx cords and braids such as AIR9204R707, AIR9204R6306 and AIR9205R6107/6109, with diameter, construction and performance requirements suited to aerospace applications.
• CAP D: cord references such as CAP D R707, R708 and R726 used by several customers to maintain fleet compatibility and long-term supply continuity.
• FCP: industrial ranges such as FCP 0178, 0218, 0503 and 0754, enabling efficient equivalence selection according to strength and flexibility requirements.
• MIL:

Materials, constructions and performance

Our braids and cords are available in polyamide, polyester and aramid, using solid-braid or jacketed constructions depending on the application. Key criteria include breaking strength, elongation, bend radius, abrasion resistance and resistance to fluids such as Skydrol, fuels and oils.
