MIL-W-4088 Type I, IA, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, VIIIA, VIIIB, VIIIC, IX nylon webbing

The MIL-W-4088 specification, also associated with MIL-DTL-4088 and PIA-W-4088 references, covers high-strength woven nylon webbing used in critical aerospace and defence applications.
Made from high-tenacity Nylon 6.6, these webbing types are used where high breaking strength, abrasion resistance and controlled energy absorption are required.

Webbing types and load classes

MIL-W-4088 includes multiple types covering different widths, thicknesses and minimum breaking loads. This allows the appropriate construction to be selected for harness, parachute, extraction and restraint applications.
Nylon construction: Provides high strength with useful elongation under dynamic loading.
Finishes: Depending on the applicable requirement, resin-treated or untreated finishes can be used to adjust stiffness and handling.

Typical applications

  • parachute harnesses,
  • aviation and vehicle restraint systems,
  • extraction straps,
  • heavy cargo tie-down and airdrop systems.

    MIL-W-4088 vs MIL-W-17337

MIL-W-17337 is a lighter tactical webbing for packs and attachment systems. MIL-W-4088 is intended for higher-load structural and safety applications.

    Quality and traceability

For aerospace and defence supply chains, lot traceability and conformity documentation can be provided according to programme requirements.
