MIL-W-25361 Type I, II, III, IV, V, VI polyester webbing

The MIL-W-25361 specification, also associated with PIA-W-25361, covers high-strength polyester webbing for aerospace and military applications.
Polyester is selected where low elongation, dimensional stability and outdoor durability are important.

Technical characteristics

Low elongation: Polyester stretches less than nylon under comparable working loads, helping maintain stable restraint geometry.
UV and moisture resistance: Polyester performs well in outdoor and humid environments and has low moisture uptake.
Chemical resistance: Useful resistance to many acids, oils and industrial fluids.

Typical applications

MIL-W-25361 webbing can be used in aircraft restraint systems, pilot-seat or safety-belt assemblies, precision cargo restraint and selected parachute subassemblies where limited stretch is required.

MIL-W-25361 vs MIL-W-4088

MIL-W-4088 nylon webbing provides greater dynamic energy absorption. MIL-W-25361 polyester webbing is selected where lower elongation and more stable restraint geometry are priorities.

MIL-W-25361 vs MIL-T-87130

MIL-T-87130 para-aramid webbing is selected for higher heat resistance and very high strength-to-weight performance. Polyester MIL-W-25361 remains appropriate where low stretch and environmental durability are required without the need for aramid performance.
