MIL-W-23223 Type I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX high-strength nylon webbing

The MIL-W-23223 specification, also associated with PIA-W-23223, covers heavy-duty, high-strength nylon webbing for aerospace and defence applications.
Made from high-tenacity Nylon 6.6, these webbing types are intended for systems exposed to substantial mechanical loads and dynamic energy.

Technical characteristics

High breaking loads: The different types cover a range of high-strength requirements.
Dense woven construction: Designed for repeated loading and abrasion in demanding restraint systems.
Controlled elongation: Nylon provides energy absorption under dynamic loading while maintaining defined mechanical performance.

Typical applications

Depending on the type and programme, MIL-W-23223 webbing can be used in aircraft arresting systems, heavy cargo restraint, parachute and extraction assemblies, and other high-load defence applications.

MIL-W-23223 vs MIL-W-4088

Both are high-strength nylon webbing families. MIL-W-4088 is widely used in harness and parachute systems, while MIL-W-23223 covers other heavy-duty restraint and energy-absorption configurations.

MIL-W-23223 vs MIL-W-5665

MIL-W-5665 covers cotton webbing for different handling and load-retention applications. MIL-W-23223 uses high-strength nylon for substantially higher dynamic-load capability.
