The MIL-T-43709 specification, later associated with PIA-T-43709 / MIL-PRF-43709, covers aramid textile tape for aerospace, parachute and defence applications.
The specification is an aramid tape specification, not a conventional Nylon 6.6 webbing specification.
Technical characteristics
Material: Aramid fibre according to the applicable specification. Low elongation and heat resistance: Aramid construction is selected where dimensional stability and elevated-temperature performance are required. Technical tape construction: Intended for reinforcement, attachment and safety-related textile assemblies.
Related webbing families
Compared with general-purpose nylon tape such as MIL-T-43566, MIL-T-43709 is selected where aramid material performance is required. Compared with heavy nylon webbing such as MIL-W-4088, it addresses a different balance of heat resistance, elongation and tape geometry.
