The engine pylon connects the engines to the wings.
The pylon is faired to minimize aerodynamic disturbance.
As it is mounted directly beneath the wing, it contributes to wing aerodynamics.
Engine pylons must also provide sealing at the nacelle interfaces.
This area is subjected to major mechanical loads generated by engine thrust, resulting in significant structural deformation.
The seals must therefore accommodate large gaps. To maintain a smooth aerodynamic surface, sealing is generally provided by profiles with an external lip.
